BJSHS Pillars of Citizenship
COMMITMENT RESPONSIBILITY RESPECT INTEGRITY
1. Be committed to your education, to your school, to your family, to your goals.
2. Be responsible for your actions, your education, your future.
3. Be respectful to your fellow students, staff, visitors, athletic and academic competitors.
4. Show integrity in all that you do – be honest, kind and ethical.
We take every opportunity to recognize and honor outstanding students in all fields. We do this by:
Bobcat Pride Tickets
Teachers and staff will award students Bobcat Pride Tickets when they see students exhibiting good citizenship. Students then turn their ticket into the office and are entered into a weekly drawing for prizes.
Student of the Month
Each month every teacher selects an outstanding student to be honored in the student of the month ceremony. Parents are invited to attend. The student is recognized and then cookies and punch are served. These ceremonies take place in the library with two separate ceremonies, one for high school and one for junior high.
In order to be on the honor roll a student must have a GPA of 3.25 with no D’s or F’s.
The honor roll is posted in the office and sent in the “Principal’s Newsletter”. Each quarter those on the honor roll have an ice cream party. Students who make the honor roll during the fall semester will get to participate in a special field trip later in the year.
Academic Awards Banquet
In May of each year we hold our annual academic awards banquet. At this banquet we honor approximately 100 students. It is the major event of the year attended by students, parents and community members. Awards are given out in the following categories: Academics, Athletics, School Spirit and Volunteerism.
