Welding- This course is designed for the student who wants to develop the knowledge and skills essential to obtain an entry‐level job in the welding industry. The subject matter of this course includes: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), GTMAW (mechanized gas tungsten arc welding), FCAW (Flux-cored arc welding), GMAW (Gas metal arc welding), OAW (Oxyacetylene Welding), brazing, silver soldering, oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, blueprint reading and welding symbols. This course is designed for the student who wants to develop the knowledge and skills essential to obtain an entry‐level job in the welding industry. Students will receive a Career Skill Certificate at the end of the program.
- Welding jacket, leathers or coveralls
- Work pants or jeans (no shorts)
- Leather boots (no open toed shoes)
- Pencil or pen
- Notebook / binder with paper
- Personal mask (COVID-19 Guidelines)

Class meets Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 5:00PM – 8:00PM
Instructor: Mr. Barker began his career at Edwards AFB doing heavy structure welding at the AFRL in 1989. He continued working with the AF for over 20 years as an aircraft welder. He retired from NASA after serving 10 years with them working as an engineering technician which included Sofia, DC-8 , C-20 and ER-2 (airborne science), and other projects.
