EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY

Educational incentive pay will be granted to all classified personnel, as evaluated by the Superintendent or his/her designee, based on the following:

  1. educational incentive pay will be granted to permanent classified employees only;
  2. all course work must have prior approval and must be job and/or skill related (within the job family);
  3. all course work must be taken after starting to work for the District;
  4. course work taken outside the employee's job family may be counted toward educational incentive pay when it becomes appropriate in the future if the employees receives prior approval from the District;
  5. the maximum number of units shall be sixty (60);
  6. educational incentive pay will be prorated in accordance with the number of hours worked;
  7. classified supervisory employees who obtained their supervisory positions prior to July 1, 1986, shall retain any prior granted incentive pay;
  8. an employee who resigns from the District and is later reemployed may be granted credit for incentive pay previously earned on the following basis:
    (a) the reemployment must be within thirty-nine (39) months of the last day of previous employment with the District;
    (b) the courses will be reevaluated as to whether they are skill related to the new position. Only courses that are skill related will be credited for payment to the employee.
