MANAGEMENT TEAM BENEFITS

Management team members shall receive the same medical, dental and vision benefits as bargaining unit members. In addition, employees will be eligible to receive a life insurance plan and other benefits outlined in this regulation.

  1. Tax Sheltered Annuity: The District will match funds paid by the employee up to six hundred dollars ($600) per year.
    (a) Funds contributed by the District are counted as part of the Management Team member's salary for computation of retirement, but not for current income tax purposes.
    (b) There are no restrictions prohibiting Management Team members from setting aside amounts in excess of matching funds.
    (c) Matching funds must be made within the fiscal year.
  2. Sick Leave:
    Sick leave earned on or before June 30, 2011.
    a. The District will note for each current Management Team member the amount of sick leave accrued as of the date this regulation is adopted by the Board.
    b. Upon retirement, for sick leave accrued prior to the adoption of this regulation, a Management Team member may choose between the following options:
    (1) apply the accrued amount to the Management Team member's California State Teachers' Retirement System or the California Public Employees' Retirement System, as appropriate; or
    (2) cash out the accrued sick leave under former Administrative Regulation 4354.1. That is, a Management Team members retiring may receive up to one-fourth (1/4) pay for unused sick leave accumulated while a member of the Management Team, at their June 30, 2011 daily salary rate.

    Sick leave earned after June 30, 2011.
    a. Management Team members shall earn annual sick leave at a rate of one (1) day per month of their regular work year calendar.
    b. Upon retirement, sick leave accrued by Management Team members will be applied to the Management Team member's California State Teachers' Retirement System or the California Public Employees' Retirement System, as appropriate.

  3. Life Insurance:
    The District will provide for each Management Team member a one hundred thousand dollar ($100,000) life insurance policy while the employee is a member of the Management Team.
  4. Medical Insurance:
    District employees employed in a Management Team position, prior to July 1, 2011.
    a. Management Team members, employed in a management position prior to the adoption of this regulation, will earn month-for-month time consistent with the terms of former Administrative Regulation 4354.1, subject to section c., below.
    (1) A Management Team member will receive month-for-month medical premium benefits after retirement from the District for the District medical insurance program if he/she retires from the District after having been a Management Team member at some time during his/her continuous employment with the District and retires as an employee of the District.
    (2) The month-for-month time shall accrue only while the employee is a member of the Management Team.
    b. Month-for-month medical premium benefits earned under former Administrative Regulation 4354.1, shall be applied as follows:
    (1) Management Team members who were employed by the District continuously prior to becoming a member of the Management Team may exhaust any "accrued/earned premium medical benefit" prior to the use of the Management Team month-for-month premium benefit. Medical premium benefits as of July 1, 2011 for non-Management Team members month-for-month accrued/earned premium until age sixty-five (65), or when Medicare or a national medical coverage is available.
    (2) Management Team member month-for-month worked medical premium benefits may go beyond age sixty-five (65) or the age when Medicare or a national coverage is available.
    (3) The coverage benefits shall be the same as the current employees.
    (4) If at any time an employee leaves the Management Team and returns to a non-Management Team position, only the month-for-month time as a Management Team member may receive month-for-month worked premium medical benefits that go beyond age sixty-five (65) or the age when Medicare or a national medical coverage is available.
    (5) Medical benefits will not be earned on a month-for-month basis beginning July 1, 2011. Premium medical benefits will not be on retirement, for sick leave accrued prior to July 1, 2011.
    c. District employees employed as Management Team members prior to July 1, 2011, who continued in the Management Team position after July 1, 2011, may not accrue more than ten (10) years of retirement medical premium benefits.

    District employees employed in a Management Team position, on or after July 1, 2011.
    a. Management Team members, employed in a Management Team position on or after July 1, 2011, will earn and utilize medical premium benefits for retirement as follows:
    (1) Management Team members who serve at least five (5) years as a District Management Team member will receive medical insurance benefits until age sixty-five (65).
    (2) Management Team members who serve at least ten (10) years as a District Management Team member will receive medical insurance benefits until age seventy (70).
    (3) If, at any time, an employee leaves the Management Team and returns to a non-Management Team position, only time served on the Management Team shall count toward such accrual.
    (4) The coverage benefits shall be the same as current employees.
    b. Medical premium benefits provided to new Management Team members, employed in a Management Team position for the first time on or after July 1, 2011, shall not go beyond, either, age sixty-five (65) or seventy (70), as set forth above, or when a national coverage is available.
