The following promotion requirements will be in effect when a six period day is implemented.

Clarifications :

  1. Students must pass one hundred and five (105) units while in seventh and eighth grades.
  2. Students may repeat failed classes in summer school (if offered) or during the regular school year in lieu of an elective.
  3. Students must complete promotion requirements listed above in order to participate in the promotion ceremony, receive an eighth grade diploma, and/or participate in any activity associated with eighth grade promotion.
  4. For students who do not complete the promotion requirements listed above, a parent/guardian conference will be held to determine how the promotion requirements will be met.

Clarifications :

  1. Students must pass one hundred and twenty-five (125) units while in seventh and eighth grades.
  2. Students may repeat failed classes in summer school (if offered) or during the regular school year in lieu of an elective.
  3. Students must complete promotion requirements listed above in order to participate in the promotion ceremony, receive an eighth grade diploma, and/or participate in any activity associated with eighth grade promotion.
  4. For students who do not complete the promotion requirements listed above, a parent/guardian conference will be held to determine how the promotion requirements will be met.
  5. As a seven period day is implemented, the credits required for promotion will be phased in incrementally. For the first year of implementation in order to be promoted to high school, an eighth grader must have 115 credits (electives 15), and for the second year of implementation must have 125 credits (electives 25).
  6. Any exception to this policy will be made by appeal to the Board of Trustees.
